They're just much more bland in their approach, and further, their very limited narratives don't offer an incentive to make radical choices. Madden NFL's "Face of the Franchise" backstory is even thinner than last year's boring, hole-ridden and sloppy setup. The player's character does not develop any personality, and the dialogue choices either/or appear to yield the same outcome: a player's buff or team.

Before, responding to questions based on a personality type ("Maverick," for example, or "Heart and Soul") would progress the player to gain certain benefits as well as unlocks, which helped improve and advancing the character.
